FAQ
HOW OFTEN DOES THE SAILING TEAM PRACTICE?
Our sailing team practices Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2pm to 6pm. Â Transportation will be provided to and from the site. Â Although we expect our sailors to make as many practices as possible, the minimum of practices a sailor must make to be an active member is 2 practices per week. Â When scheduling your classes, it is important to try to schedule your classes around these practice times. Â The sailing team practices and competes in both the fall and spring semesters.
WHERE DOES THE TEAMÂ PRACTICE?
We practice off-campus at Southern Yacht Club on Lake Pontchartrain, which is about a 20-minute drive. Â Transportation to the site is provided.
DO I NEED EXPERIENCE IN ORDER TO SAIL FOR TULANE?
Although experience is certainly helpful, we accept students with all backgrounds and levels of experience. Â At the present time, Tulane sailing has no "cuts." Â If you are interested in sailing but have no prior experience, you're not alone! Â Many of our members began their sailing careers at Tulane, and more experienced team members will give you guidance and instruction so that you can quickly learn and begin competing.
WHO DOES TULANE SAILINGÂ COMPETE AGAINST?
Tulane Sailing is a member of SEISA, the Southeastern Intercollegiate Sailing Association, which includes schools in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Alabama. We compete against other schools in this district throughout the fall and spring in order to qualify for nationals in the late spring/early summer. Each weekend during the fall and spring, Tulane sailing travels to regattas both in our district and outside of our district. To find out more, check out SEISA's website.

In the past, Tulane has traveled to other regattas outside our district in Florida, New York, Oregon, Virginia, and Washington.
I'M AN INTERESTED PROSPECTIVE STUDENT. Â HOW DO I JOIN THE TEAM?
We're always looking for new sailors to join our team. We also would be happy to meet with you if you are ever visiting campus in order to give you our insight into life at Tulane. Reach out to our Vice President, Harris Cram here with your prior experience or what sparked your interest in sailing. Can't wait to hear from you! #RollWave
